A majority of us are animal lovers and this love for animal’s makes us want to keep pets.
If you are like me, you are a hardcore animal lover and probably have pets too.
As pet owners, it is our greatest responsibility to ensure that our animal friends are in best health.
Firstly, let’s start with talking about how our animal friends help us so much.
The most important reasons that you may/may not know about are:-
– They fill us with love for them and studies conducted by the National Institute Of Health (NIH) and The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have shown that they even lead to the reduction of cholesterol, blood pressure and triglyceride levels which can lead to decreased risk of heart attacks.
– They can be great fitness pals.( this is in reference to dogs of course)
If you’ve ever been a dog owner, you know how important it is for your bud to get a walk every day. If you, like many others, walk your dog on a daily basis, it helps you get a walk yourself and stay fit as well!

1) TAKE THEM TO A VET EVERY YEAR.
It is very important to take your pal is to a veterinarian every year for check ups.
Now, many of us may see our pet’s as perfectly healthy and may even question the need to take them for a checkup every year, but it is very important to do this and shouldn’t be neglected at any cost for your pet’s health.
The importance of this increases when they start to age.
Be sure to get your pet checked for weight control, nutrition, health screenings, recommended vaccinations as well as a dental exam and others.
2) KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THOSE FLEAS!
Keep your pet’s away from any parasites that may infect them which can also lead to them having hair loss, irritated skin etc.
Fleas are the most common among these and even if your pet swallows one flea they might have the risk of developing tapeworms which are very common among cats and dogs.
You can prevent fleas with the help of flea collars and make sure you brush your pet’s hair with an anti-flea brush too.
Flea sprays are great for this purpose too and also give flea-free baths weekly!
3) GET THEM EXERCISING!
Just like us, humans, it is very important to have an exercise routine set for our pet to help them stay healthy!
You could also use some toys to make them enjoy it even more.
Exercising is very important for our pets, mainly because, it helps them in maintaining a healthy weight.
Cats are not as active as dogs but they do need mental stimulation.
They like chasing things, you could buy a toy which requires them to chase or follow it.
For dogs, you can let them run and play in the open.
This can be in addition to their daily walking routine which will keep them in great shape!
4) BOND WITH THEM
It is indeed very important to bond into a loving relationship with your pet.
Many of us treat our pets like family and this is the best way to make them feel at home.
Studies have also found that owners of dogs have increased social interaction and are great for breaking the ice when encountering a stranger in a park or anywhere you would take your pet for a walk or play.
More than that, owning a pet has many health benefits of its own which are not one sided.
For humans, they help us in increasing our psychological growth as well as development.
5) CONSIDER PET INSURANCE.
It would be great if you got pet insurance since this covers the price of all accidental or unexpected injuries.
Although, this is not a must but it is a very good option for you and your pet. Sit down and think wisely considering all your options before you choose the pet insurance company for your pet.
