Now, many of us may see our pet’s as perfectly healthy and may even question the need to take them for a checkup every year, but it is very important to do this and shouldn’t be neglected at any cost for your pet’s health.

The importance of this increases when they start to age.
Be sure to get your pet checked for weight control, nutrition, health screenings, recommended vaccinations as well as a dental exam and others.

2) KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THOSE FLEAS!

Fleas are the most common among these and even if your pet swallows one flea they might have the risk of developing tapeworms which are very common among cats and dogs.

You can prevent fleas with the help of flea collars and make sure you brush your pet’s hair with an anti-flea brush too.
Flea sprays are great for this purpose too and also give flea-free baths weekly!

3) GET THEM EXERCISING!

Just like us, humans, it is very important to have an exercise routine set for our pet to help them stay healthy!
You could also use some toys to make them enjoy it even more.

Cats are not as active as dogs but they do need mental stimulation.
They like chasing things, you could buy a toy which requires them to chase or follow it.

For dogs, you can let them run and play in the open.
This can be in addition to their daily walking routine which will keep them in great shape!

4) BOND WITH THEM

It is indeed very important to bond into a loving relationship with your pet.Obama Playing With His Pet Dog

Studies have also found that owners of dogs have increased social interaction and are great for breaking the ice when encountering a stranger in a park or anywhere you would take your pet for a walk or play.

More than that, owning a pet has many health benefits of its own which are not one sided.

For humans, they help us in increasing our psychological growth as well as development.

  1. Suhail,

Great tips on taking car of your pets! I never before considered pet insurance. I always thought that it was a scam. Maybe I will look more into it. I have always taken my dog to the vet yearly but have not had any big issues with any pet that I have owned, which is why insurance for my pet was not a big thing for me. You have made me really start to consider it. Thank you.

    1. Pet insurance is certainly one of the best things you could do for your pet and when you make your decision, be sure of thinking wisely about which one you choose.
Think about which one fits the best for you and your pet.
You could research about the one’s I’ve mentioned in the video above.
It was great to hear from you. 🙂

      Cheers,
      Suhail.

  2. Hi Suhail, thanks for the great tips for pet health.

We have a dog and a cat, and I agree totally, that our pets need to be looked after properly, with these 5 points. We spend a lot of money on vets fees for checkups as well as vaccinations, so pet insurance is essential, and we make sure they eat healthy and have adequate amount of exercises daily.

Bonding with pets is the most valuable thing that we can have. We spend as much time as we can with our pets to play with and cuddle.

    Thanks again for the advice!

    1. Hi there, Ray!
I’m glad you look after your pets in such a great way and take them to a vet for checkups.
Many people tend to see their pet healthy and feel that they should only be going to the vet when their pet falls sick and I’m glad that this isn’t the case with you.
Also, it’s awesome that you ensure that they get adequate amounts of exercise.
It was great hearing from you 🙂

      Thank you so much 😀

  3. Regular visits to the veterinarian are incredibly important to help your dog live a long healthy life and having pet health insurance may help you afford the best care. Some pets are not so keen on going to the vet. You can help your pet enjoy it by showing your dog the vet office is a fun place to visit. Take plenty of yummy treats and ask the vet staff to give them to your dog. This will help your pet make a good association with their vet. Take your dog to the vet just to visit, have him hop on the scale for a quick weigh in, get a treat from the receptionist, etc. Make these trips short and stress free for our pet.
